Gosford rooms, an easy trip from the Peninsula

The clinic is in the Gosford CBD, inside John’s Place at Suite 112, 159 Mann Street, a short trip from anywhere on the Peninsula.

The train is often the simplest way: Woy Woy and Gosford are on the same line, the trip along Brisbane Water takes about ten minutes, and the rooms are a short walk from the station, so the whole visit can happen without a car.

Driving takes around fifteen minutes via Brisbane Water Drive, following the shoreline through Koolewong and Point Clare, and there is parking near the clinic.

Appointments run Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 11:30am to 7:30pm, so a session doesn’t need to compete with the work day.

In-person:  Suite 112, 159 Mann Street, Gosford, inside John’s Place. More about the rooms on the Gosford clinic page.

Telehealth: Available anywhere in NSW or Australia.

Therapy for adults, whatever the starting point

James works with adults across the range of concerns that bring people to therapy: anxiety and panic, trauma and PTSD, OCD and intrusive thoughts, depression and low mood, and the overwhelm and self-criticism that often come with adult ADHD (therapy and support; MindSure doesn’t provide formal ADHD assessments).

For trauma, James has completed accredited training in EMDR; the EMDR therapy page explains how it works and who it suits.

One thing worth naming: the Peninsula is a close-knit place, and some people simply prefer a little distance between therapy and daily life. Gosford is close enough to be easy and far enough to feel private.

Each of the pages linked above goes into depth about how treatment works, what sessions involve, and what the evidence says, so you can get a feel for the approach before you book. Our Central Coast psychology page has the broader picture of the practice.

Telehealth across the Peninsula and beyond: secure video sessions from home in Woy Woy, Umina Beach, Ettalong Beach or Booker Bay, at the same fee as in-person, with Medicare rebates applying in the same way.

Common questions from the Peninsula

The practical things people from Woy Woy and surrounds usually ask before booking.

Is MindSure Psychology located in Woy Woy?

No. The rooms are in the Gosford CBD, inside John’s Place at Suite 112, 159 Mann Street. This page is for people on the Peninsula weighing up the short trip to Gosford, or telehealth from home.

How do I get there from Woy Woy without a car?

By train. Woy Woy and Gosford are on the same line and the trip takes about ten minutes, then it’s a short walk from Gosford Station to the rooms on Mann Street.

Do you see people from Umina Beach, Ettalong Beach and Booker Bay?

Yes. Clients come from across the Peninsula, in person at Gosford or by telehealth from home. The same appointment times apply wherever you live, including daytime and evening sessions.

Can I do my sessions by telehealth instead of travelling?

Yes. Sessions run by secure video from home, at the same fee as in-person, and with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan the usual Medicare rebate still applies. Some people mix the two, coming in when they can and going online when the week is full.

What does a session cost?

Sessions are $240 for 50 minutes. With a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, Medicare returns $101.55, leaving $138.45 out of pocket. NDIS sessions for plan-managed and self-managed participants are $252.99. The fees page has the full breakdown and a calculator.

Do I need a referral before booking?

No referral is needed to book or attend. If you want to claim Medicare rebates, you’ll need a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.

Does my Mental Health Treatment Plan expire?

No. Your Mental Health Treatment Plan doesn’t expire, so you can start using it at any time, even if it was written a while ago. Medicare rebates are capped at 10 sessions per calendar year, and the cap resets each January. You can read more on healthdirect.
