James’ background and therapy approach
James is a registered psychologist who works with adults, offering a warm, empathic and collaborative approach. He creates a safe, non-judgemental space where clients feel genuinely heard, then partners with them to build practical, evidence-based strategies that strengthen resilience and support meaningful change.
He has worked across psychiatric hospitals, public health services, university clinics and private practice on the Gold Coast, Sydney and the Central Coast.

James completed a Master of Clinical Psychology (awarded with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons 1). His postgraduate research examined factors that influence outcomes in exposure-based therapy for anxiety, reinforcing his commitment to tailoring treatment to the individual using the best available evidence.
He has since undertaken accredited training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR Part 1, EMDR Institute) and integrates EMDR-informed approaches to support clients processing single-incident trauma.

James draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), tailoring therapy to each person’s goals, values, and preferences.
