Psychology fees,
clearly explained
Out-of-pocket from $141.05 per session with a Medicare rebate — same fee for in-person and telehealth, with no GP referral required to book.
What will I actually pay?
Pick your pathway and we'll show your exact out-of-pocket per session — with the breakdown.
Telehealth and in-person sessions are charged the same.
A private-fee practice — without the private-fee price
MindSure Psychology operates as a private-fee practice, which allows time for longer-term, personalised care without the time pressure of bulk-billed appointments.
Standard fees are deliberately set below the APS National Schedule of Recommended Fees — making evidence-based therapy more accessible without compromising clinical quality. Appointments are intentionally limited so each client receives unhurried, considered care.
In-person sessions are available in Gosford and Hornsby. Telehealth is available anywhere in Australia, charged at the same fee.
No referral is required to book. A GP Mental Health Treatment Plan is only needed if you want to claim Medicare rebates.

Your first session is unhurried — we'll talk about what's brought you here and start to make sense of it together. No commitment beyond your first session.

$78 below the APS recommended fee
The Australian Psychological Society publishes a recommended fee schedule each year. MindSure's standard fee is meaningfully lower — by design, not as a discount.
For clients using a Medicare rebate, the actual out-of-pocket cost is $141.05 per weekday session.
This isn't a promotional offer or a short-term discount. It's the standing fee, designed to make evidence-based psychological care more accessible without compromising session length, clinical quality, or the time spent on your treatment between appointments.
Appointments are intentionally limited to keep care personalised, unhurried, and high quality.
What your session fee covers
Each session fee covers more than the 50-minute appointment itself. The work between sessions — preparing, documenting, and tailoring the plan to your goals — is included as standard.
There are no add-ons or hidden charges for routine clinical care. The fee you see is what you pay.

Common questions about fees and rebates
Quick answers to the questions people most commonly ask before their first session.
Do I need a GP referral to see a psychologist?
No. You can self-refer and book directly — many clients do. A GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) is only needed if you'd like to claim Medicare rebates. Many people start therapy first and organise the GP plan afterwards.
How does the Medicare rebate work?
With a valid GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, you can claim a $98.95 Medicare rebate on each psychology session — for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. MindSure processes the rebate on your behalf after each session, so it usually appears in your bank account within a few business days.
Can I claim through my private health insurance?
Yes — if your "extras" policy includes psychology, you'll usually receive a partial rebate. The amount depends on your fund and level of cover, so we recommend checking with your insurer before booking. We don't process PHI claims directly, but provide a paid receipt for you to submit. Note: you can't claim both a Medicare rebate and a PHI rebate for the same session.
Why are MindSure's fees below the APS recommended rate?
The APS recommends $318 for a 46–60 minute consultation (2025–26). MindSure's standard fee is $240 — $78 below. This is the standing fee, not a discount. Operating as a private-fee practice means each appointment can be longer, more thorough, and unhurried compared to bulk-billed care, while keeping the price meaningfully under the recommended rate.
Is telehealth the same fee as in-person?
Yes. Telehealth and in-person sessions are charged at the same rate, and Medicare rebates apply to both. Telehealth is available anywhere in Australia.
What if I don't have a GP referral yet?
You can still book a first session — the standard fee of $240 applies for any session held before a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan is in place. Once the plan is organised, Medicare rebates apply to future sessions only.
Important: Medicare rebates can't be back-claimed for sessions held before your GP plan is dated.
My MHTP is addressed to another psychologist — is that okay?
Yes. In most cases, a valid GP Mental Health Treatment Plan can still be used at MindSure even if it's addressed to a different psychologist. As long as the plan is current and you consent to seeing a different provider, Medicare rebates are usually still available. This is very common.
Do you bulk bill?
No. MindSure operates as a private-fee practice, which allows longer-term, personalised care without rushed or bulk-billed constraints. Standard fees are kept below the APS recommended rate, and Medicare rebates apply with a valid GP plan.
How is the $50 booking deposit applied?
The deposit secures your appointment and is credited directly to your session fee — so the remaining balance is what's charged on the day. No deposit is required for NDIS sessions (plan-managed or self-managed).
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancellations or reschedules made more than 48 hours before the appointment are free. Late cancellations, same-day cancellations, no-shows, and unattended appointments are charged the full session fee. These fees can't be claimed through Medicare or private health insurance.
How do I pay?
Payments are processed securely via Stripe (PCI Level 1). Card details are never stored by MindSure. A receipt is emailed automatically after each session, and Medicare rebates are processed on your behalf where applicable.
Are there any concession or sliding-scale options?
MindSure doesn't offer separate concession rates. Standard fees are already kept below the APS recommended rate, and most clients access a Medicare rebate or NDIS funding. If cost is a barrier, your GP can also point you towards bulk-billed psychology options elsewhere.
